Operation Sharing

We deliver hope!”

In a remote Appalachian community, young children go to bed fully clothed to fend off the bitter winter cold.

Meanwhile, a large national retailer has an overstock of 500 blankets that could warm an equal number of cold, shivering children.

In a small settlement in the eastern Kentucky coal-fields, young mothers struggle to feed their children.

At the same time, church and community-based food kitchens in Cincinnati, Boston and Miami have collected too much baby formula, rice and beans to distribute or store – enough fooLittle girld to help feed hundreds of poor and hungry families.

Today, thousands of Americans need food, medicine, and adequate housing…

…while American businesses often have surplus goods…

Operation Sharing brings business and people together to build lives and deliver hope to individuals and families in dire need!

Op shareWith connections to like-minded organization throughout the 13 Appalachian state area, we bring hope to America’s poorest citizens.

We partner with churches, businesses, non-profit groups and community-based resource centers to distribute much-appreciated and much needed goods to those suffering in poverty.

With two warehouses located in the heart of poverty-stricken Appalachia, each year we distribute millions of dollars of donated surplus goods from hundreds of individuals, organizations and corporations.

We believe that the free and unselfish sharing of material goods with those in need goes hand-in-hand with sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

“Assuredly, I say to you, in as much as you did it to one of the least of these My breathren, you did it to Me.”

Matthew 25:40

Delivering Help.....
CAP estimates that each year over 1.6 million people are impacted by donations through Operation Sharing. Donated materials (valued at over $55 million) are distributed in all thirteen Appalachian states and two non-Appalachian states through non-profit partnerships with over 1,300 churches and community based programs.

Each year, In-kind donations are received from approximately 125 organizations.  CAP Human Service programs annually use goods from Operation Sharing that total approximately $4 million, saving much needed dollars that can be utilized  to provide help for individuals and families suffering in poverty.  In addition to goods used in our own programs, we partner with churches, school and community service organizations to redistribute these resources to those in need in their local areas.

As part of expanding our services to deliver hope, Operation Sharing now delivers much needed emergency relief supplies to communities within our service area devestated by natural disasters.  This emergency outreach effort is called Operation Relief, and has, unfortunately, been much needed over this past year.  For an overview of this program please refer to the followin articles that describe how Operation Relief aids communities and families recovery in times of natural disasters.

CAP Responds
An archive of Operation Relief emergency projects.

When natural disasters occur, CAP puts into action Operation Relief, providing much needed food, water, bedding and other essential emergency supplies to people in the areas effected.  Your donation sends hope to these families in the mist of this crisis.  Your gifts speak loud in the silence of despair that someone cares about them.  On behalf of those God has called us to serve, thank you.
